that was my first thought but i'm fairly certain it isn't. not the right street layout for martinborough and i don't know what other town in wairarapa it could be. possibly featherston (if you flip the image).
North Canterbury's the next place that comes to mind but I think the hills are too small and far apart for Hanmer, and too close (and green!) for anywhere else that comes to mind
