Tonight is my last night in my flat so for posterity's sake he's a shot of the backyard. Don't ya just love that view?!

Seeing as the NZ International Art Festival opens tonight, here's a shot I took during the 2002 Festival. An English artist whose name I've long forgotten made these living standards and placed them at various sites around the city. They were extremely beautiful and peaceful places. These particular ones were in Charles Plimmer Park, Mount Victoria.
It's hard to beat backlit foliage on a good day and further up the hill I came across this lovely patch of Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora (montbretia), one of our friendly african invaders, classified as a pest/noxious plant in some parts of the country. But it's oh so pretty!
just bits of stuff i do when i've nothing better to do, or more likely when i've got plenty else to do but can't be buggered

Everything is spectacular in its way. It's all valuable. It's all of a piece.

Slowly, step by step, picture by picture, his work began to have the look of having been made by someone who,
on trying to explain the world, and having failed, had been reduced to collecting it.
