The Removal
Some of you will probably be aware that I have this thing on in town at the moment, though there has been little comment made about it on this blog but look here instead.
To quote the council press release - "‘Pilgrimage’ was selected by Wellington City Council’s Public Art Panel following a call to artists for proposals linked to competitive sport, particularly the Rugby World Cup that’s due to kick off in early September."
Ironic isn't it that this is the current state of them - well what they looked like on Wednesday anyway.
To be fair, I was told this was happening and asked if I was happy with it. But what exactly would have happened if I had said "no, no fucking way, it defeats the purpose of having them up if they are going to be removed for the entire weekend when town will be busiest due to the influx of RWC quarter final visitors ... "
I suspect many agree. Including many in the WCC Arts Team I would hazard a guess.
